The common retailers, following suit, don’t usually purchase clothes in plus sizes. What they don’t realize is that, by doing so, they usually lose out on a whole lot of customers. Even if it is to further their gains, they must always have a stock of plus size clothes as well. But, the unavailability of plus size clothes is not only restricted to the callousness of the retailers, the equally faulty are the wholesalers. Retailers often complain of a dearth of such stock even with the wholesalers, and hence they themselves are not able to do much about it. Hence, the problem is at rather the grass-root level.
But, it looks like the wholesalers are finally caving in due to the humongous demand of the customers. There are wholesalers who have started stocking sizes such as ‘XL’ and even ‘3 XL’. That is not all. They offer a wide range of clothes to choose from and in all sizes. They offer denim skirts, shorts, dresses, hoodies, jackets and even swimwear in all sizes.
Retailers who do stock plus sizes have complaints against the excess plus size stock that is left unsold at the end of every season. To diminish this problem, it is important for the retailers to study the customer demand and keep in mind all the factors that govern the shopping patterns. It is also important to note that the customers are much more aware and have grown a sense of style which is suitable for their body type. For instance, body-hugging clothes only enhance the side flab, hence, it is not a preferred choice with plus size women. While denims and shorts are equally in demand, dresses that flatter the body such as maxi dresses or flowy dresses are a hit with them. These are few of the costumer shopping patterns that the retailers can keep in mind while purchasing plus sized clothes.
